2015 Ford F-150 Pictures
The 2015 model year marks the 13th generation for the Ford F-150. With that comes a ground up redesign that highlights why the F-series is the best selling pickup line in America. Perhaps the most notable change to the 2015 F-150 is the addition of aluminum alloys for the body and bed, which, depending on the model, will shave up to 700lbs off the curb weight.
There isn’t any talk of a diesel for the 2015 F-150, instead Ford is going all in on its EcoBoost lineup by adding a brand new 2.7-liter V6. Fuel economy figures haven’t been released yet, but Ford is taking cues from the Super Duty and giving the 2.7L V6 a compacted graphite iron cylinder block. This will make the new EcoBoost lighter and stronger than the previous 3.5L. Engine options will include the standard aspirated 3.5L V6, 5.0L V8, and the pair of turbocharged EcoBoost engines – all engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Ford revamped the 2015 F-150’s interior as well making it more functional for the job site worker. The dials, buttons, and knobs are all very prominent and easy to manipulate, which is a blessing when you wear heavy gloves on the job.
Speaking of jobs, the ’15 F-150’s bed not only is crafted out of aluminum alloy, but it also features a newly designed tailgate step and box lighting for those long nights.
All in all the new 2015 Ford F-150 looks to be a winner; Ford took cues from it’s Atlas concept and kept the redesign modest. The biggest question right now is what will happen to the 2015 SVT Raptor? It’s hard to imagine that Ford would scrap its fastest turnover vehicle, so a redesign should be in the works, but it’s all speculation right now. TopSpeed, who came very close with it’s ’15 F-150 renderings, released what they think the ’15 Raptor will look like and it seems reasonable. Check it out here.
