STORM 3 R-Type M-243 Light Intervention Vehicle
The Jeep J8 seems to have a competitor, and it looks mean too. The STORM 3 R-Type M-243 Light Intervention Vehicle is produced by Automotive Industries Ltd. out of Nazareth Illit, Israel. I first saw images of the Storm 3 M-243 with watermarks to an Israeli blog called JeepOlog.com. So in my curiosity I dug a little deeper and found that the major differences between the Jeep J8, and Storm 3 M-243 are external. They both use the 2.8L turbocharged diesel engine, a 5 speed automatic, and NVG241 transfercase.
The M-243 uses robust Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires, an integrated exoskeleton/roll cage, snorkel, and flat style fenders. The fenders in particular are interesting because they’re designed with complete utility in mind. Each front fender has four tie down points, and its own rack system designed for 5 gallon containers.
Personally, I think Automotive Industries Ltd. got it right with this design. They recaptured the original Bantam design in a modern JK package.
