Bushwacker Remembers The Troops

As a company that strives to do more for the community, Bushwacker, Inc. is a unique place where ideas can quickly be put into action. In an effort to recognize service-members deployed overseas, three associates; Ben Martin, a Marine veteran, Kathy Moon, an Army mom and Honey Brown, a Soldiers’ Angel since 2008 devised a plan to assemble Team Support Our Service-members (Team SOS), and gather donations from others around the Bushwacker factory.

Donations are collected in phases at “Donation Points”, which are drop boxes placed throughout the building. The first phase is to collect magazines and books and then send those donations to Soldiers’ Angels in Pasadena, California. Soldiers’ Angels is a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to “providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families.”

The next step for Team SOS is to collect valued commodities that typically aren’t available for deployed troops. Items such as baby wipes, travel shampoo, and sunblock can go a long way when the nearest Military Exchange is through hostile territory.

After just one month of the first phase, Team SOS collected over eight cases of reading material! Even after the conclusion of Phase One, Team SOS still receives magazines and books to send overseas.

With numerous veterans on staff, including the President and CEO; the associates at Bushwacker, Inc. realize the importance of having a taste of home when deployed. The members of Team SOS and its supporters hope their contributions will provide much-needed comfort for troops deployed to many locations overseas.
