Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ Lift Kit Installation

We kept the daily driver in mind when building our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ; it had to be durable yet smooth, a perfect combination of on/off road performance. This build had to be done right since it would be the first to testfit our WJ Cut-Out Fender Flares. So we reached out to our friends and assembled some of the best aftermarket parts available for the ’00 Grand Cherokee. We installed the following:

BDS Suspension 4? suspension lift
Mickey Thompson 33 x 12.5? Baja Claw tires
Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Black wheels
WARN VR-8000-s winch
Trail Ready Base Front Bumper
PIAA Lights

Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ BDS Suspension Lift Kit:

Pairing the Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ with a BDS Suspension 4″ lift made sense since functionality was our goal. The BDS lift would give us a soft ride on the road, and the tire clearance needed for the rigors of Moab. As an option, we included a set of Fox Racing Shocks with this kit. Combining Fox Shocks with our Cut-Out Fender Flares guaranteed good wheel travel for the
Baja Claw tires.

The instructions from BDS were clear and made the installation go smoothly. Surprisingly we didn’t have to improvise at all, everything was explained and included just as advertised.

Some of the more difficult aspects of the installation came from the WJ itself. We noticed that the rear OEM shock bracket nuts were tac welded to the frame. This could have been a fluke, but it definitely wasn’t expected. Another hiccup came from the OEM control arm bolts; they were unbelievably tight which caused us to break out the Aerokroil, blowtorch, and elbow grease. Other than that, it was a smooth installation.
