2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 3.0L
The Jeep CRD EcoDiesel is finally coming to America underneath the hood of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee! This news makes the fairytale of a diesel Wrangler just a little more tangible. But besides that, the 2014 Grand Cherokee will bring with it the ZF 8HP70 eight speed transmission. This tranny is likely to be added to the 2014 Jeep Wrangler, which begs to question: will we see a CRD badge on the 2014 Wrangler as well? Let’s hope so!
This new 3.0L V-6 diesel engine and 8HP70 transmission will give the 2014 Grand Cherokee the best in class fuel economy with up to 30mpg, and a range up to 730 miles! This combo will also produce 240 hp at 3600 rpm, and 420 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm. Get those awards ready because the new Grand Cherokee is expected to deliver best in class towing with a capacity of 7400 lbs!
Already regarded as a responsive engine, the 3.0L EcoDiesel has a highly pressurized fuel injection system that pushes 29,000 psi, and a turbo design that reduces lag time. The 24 valve DOHC engine sits on compact graphite iron, which reduces the overall weight of the vehicle.
The 2014 diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at $35,795, and is available on all Grand Cherokee models except the Laredo. For more information you can check out Chrysler’s press release here, and the Jeep product page here.
